A Call to Prayer and Fasting . This is your invitation to participate in A Call to Prayer and Fasting, a strategic “Body-work” taking place in our Central Florida area during month of January 2008. This initiative was conceived by the Spirit through Christian attorney Mark Nation. After hearing OPD’s Senior Chaplain Andrew Wade speak at the Central Florida Mayors Prayer Breakfast on November 1st, Mark felt that A Call to Prayer and Fasting needed to be sounded, in order that the grip of crime on our communities might be broken. He called to share his vision with us, and in a matter of days, it was borne by the Spirit, and expanded to include numerous cities in the Tri-County area of Central Florida.
Statistics indicating violent crime on the rise in Orlando throughout 2007 inspired strategic responses such as the OPD Chaplains’ “Operation Armor All” that took place in the Parramore area from October 10th through November 18th. During that 40 day “prayer siege”, the incidence of crime declined. The Orlando Sentinel published articles questioning what that decrease might be attributed to. The answer was obvious to those who had been praying “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done” from the 70 congregations and ministries who had gone “on site” to pray “with insight during “Operation Armor All”. The fervent prayers of the righteous had availed much as we prayed for the city and worshipped the Lord over our Central Florida area!
“Pray for the city to which you have been exiled, for upon its welfare depends your own” Jeremiah 29:7
It is imperative that we corporately observe this command at this critical hour! Mark has enlisted the support and participation of the Police Chiefs and Chaplains from cities all across Central Florida. They will interact with the congregations in each of their communities, calling them to join in the January time of fasting and prayer. The Sheriffs of Orange, Osceola and Seminole Counties, along with their Chaplains, have also been invited to “come on board”. The ripple effect from this kind of concerted fasting and prayer effort will most certainly be felt “beyond” our Tri-County area. As it flows over into other Counties, even across our State borders, we will see how the ever-expanding KINGDOM principle of ”microcosm - macrocosm” works!
This corporate prayer and fasting initiative will take place from January 1st through January 31st with the initial prayer focus being the peace and safety of our communities.
Now, with the dates and prayer focus set and the call being issued, you and I and “whomsoever” must decide what our response will be. Do we believe Jeremiah 29:7…that our destinies are tied together with the destiny of our city? If so, let us set aside our own agendas, commit to participating fully in this initiative, and use our influence to enlist others in order to make this a truly corporate effort.
This will be a “first fruits offering” for 2008. As we move through the month of January and beyond, let’s ask for and receive revelation for all that God desires to accomplish through us, His Church, in this “Year of New Beginnings”. Let us come together as one Body in Christ and enter into this endeavor, so that we of the “Church of Orlando” (those united in Christ from the communities of Central Florida) may be seen for who we really are…His!
Vision Orlando will host this fasting and prayer initiative on its website. Go to www.visionorlando.org and click on A Call to Prayer and Fasting
We will unite to fast and pray “together” for the peace and safety of our communities, and then go “beyond’ our initial prayer focus to include additional prayer points for other events that will dramatically impact our city and beyond.
The Call2All Global Congress – January 29th through February 1st - at Northland Church
TheCall Florida - February 2nd - at the Silver Spurs Arena in Osceola County
“Operation Armor All” – 2nd of five 40 day prayer sieges led by OPD Chaplains
I pray that we will have an Epiphany, so that those in our cities will experience the fullest blessings of the Incarnation!
For the KING and HIS KINGDOM! Your sister and servant, Maureen

A Call To Prayer and Fasting December 12, 2007 Dear Brothers and Sisters:
It is with great humility, and sincerity of heart, that I write to ask that you consider the following invitation. I am writing to you in partnership with Andrew T. Wade, Senior Chaplain, Orlando Police Department, and Maureen Bravo, of the Intercessory Prayer Network of Central Florida.
As you know, there was an unprecedented spike in violent crime in our Central Florida in 2007. This has resulted in about 70 churches, and various community leaders coming together in prayer for our community.
During the month of January 2008, we would like to take that one step further. We are asking that you join us in fasting and prayer for peace and safety in our community during the month of January.
Throughout history, our spiritual leaders resorted to prayer and fasting during times of trouble and turmoil. We believe that we face just such a time right now. We believe that the grip of crime on our community can only be broken by prayer and fasting.
What type of fast are we talking about? There are many options.
We are challenging some of you to join us in an absolute fast from all food during the month of January 2008. Some will consider fasting for a day, or maybe a couple of days. Still others may consider fasting from one meal a day, or one meal a week.
Regardless of the nature of the fast, the goal is to humble ourselves before God and seek his intervention throughout the communities of Central Florida.
There will be prayer walks throughout the month of January in order to support each other, and pray for our community. We will be in touch with details concerning the prayer walks.
You can email me at mnation@nationlaw.com for updates and further information concerning this fast. Senior Chaplain Wade can be reached athomaswade@bellsouth.net. Maureen Bravo can be reached at IPNCF@ruii.org
We are setting up a link on the www.visionorlando.org website where you can sign up and get more information.
God bless you. Kindest regards,
Mark A. Nation
