“Operation Armor All”
“The “Church of Orlando” has received a call to unite in prayer with the OPD Chaplains on behalf of our City! Let us humble ourselves, cooperate with His grace and participate in what God is doing in our midst at this hour – lest we miss the time of our visitation!” Maureen Bravo – IPNCF (Intercessory Prayer Network of Central Florida)

History
On September 19, 2007, OPD Senior Chaplain Andrew Wade, alarmed at what was taking place in our city, wrote Church and Community leaders. In his letter, he sounded an alarm which challenged us to rise up, pray and begin to reclaim the City from the darkness that had become so pervasive.
There has been an unprecedented spike in violent crime in our City Beautiful. It is time for the people of God to take a stand! We need your help. Standing on the Word of God, the Chaplains of the Orlando Police Department are call- ing all churches to “put on the whole armor of God” (Ephesians 6).
Christians were called on to participate in “Operation Armor All”, a prayer initiative which would include a series of 40 day ”prayer sieges” throughout Orlando, the first would be in the Parramore area. A precise strategy was formulated and articulated. Different congregations, prayer groups and ministries from the community would sign up for a particular day of the 40, to provide “on sight” prayer and praise at a designated site for at least one hour. They would meet with the Chaplains and officers from the OPD, to pray that God would put a stop to escalating violence and crime in the community where they stood. Other “prayer warriors” serving “off sight” would simultaneously be engaged in praying for those going into the “war zones”. It would be a corporate effort…truly, a “Body-work”!
We are asking you to join us in 40 Days of Prayer to reclaim our city from violent crime. “Operation Armor All” is being launched on Wednesday, October 10 And will run through Sunday, November 18. We are calling on the churches of Orlando to commit to pray diligently for these 40 days. We are also seeking 40 churches that will commit to one of the 40 days to lead a one-hour prayer and praise time in a target community.
Backed by Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, former Orlando Police Chief Mike McCoy and then Deputy Chief Val Demings (now Chief), the Chaplains enlisted hundreds of believers to pray diligently and fervently for Orlando. “Pray for the city to which you have been exiled, for upon its welfare depends your own.” Jeremiah 29:7
With a watchful, protective police presence at each daily prayer time, participants filled the air with prayer, praise and worship; some even “prayer walked” the streets; all were actively seeking God for the City, entreating Him on its behalf, and stepping out with “faith in action” to reclaim it and its people from the forces of death and destruction! AS it engaged in such times of “soaking prayer”, a newly awakened and invigorated Church found itself coming into the unity that Jesus prayed for in John 17.
At 6 PM on October 31st, when 21 of 40 days had been completed, intercessors praying “on site” sensed that there had been a change in the atmosphere and declared that a “shifting” had taken place in Parramore. As they rejoiced, and sang “It’s beginning to rain”, the victory of “Light” over darkness and the triumph of life and liberty over death and bondage was celebrated. During the last days of that time in Parramore, there was a noticeable renewal of hope for a bright, productive future for families living there. People living there began to sense that ”transformation was coming”.
November 18th, the first of five initial OPD prayer sieges was concluded, and plans for 2008 were formulated!

A Call To Prayer and Fasting December 12, 2007 Dear Brothers and Sisters:
It is with great humility, and sincerity of heart, that I write to ask that you consider the following invitation. I am writing to you in partnership with Andrew T. Wade, Senior Chaplain, Orlando Police Department, and Maureen Bravo, of the Intercessory Prayer Network of Central Florida.
As you know, there was an unprecedented spike in violent crime in our Central Florida in 2007. This has resulted in about 70 churches, and various community leaders coming together in prayer for our community.
During the month of January 2008, we would like to take that one step further. We are asking that you join us in fasting and prayer for peace and safety in our community during the month of January.
Throughout history, our spiritual leaders resorted to prayer and fasting during times of trouble and turmoil. We believe that we face just such a time right now. We believe that the grip of crime on our community can only be broken by prayer and fasting.
What type of fast are we talking about? There are many options.
We are challenging some of you to join us in an absolute fast from all food during the month of January 2008. Some will consider fasting for a day, or maybe a couple of days. Still others may consider fasting from one meal a day, or one meal a week.
Regardless of the nature of the fast, the goal is to humble ourselves before God and seek his intervention throughout the communities of Central Florida.
There will be prayer walks throughout the month of January in order to support each other, and pray for our community. We will be in touch with details concerning the prayer walks.
You can email me at mnation@nationlaw.com for updates and further information concerning this fast. Senior Chaplain Wade can be reached athomaswade@bellsouth.net. Maureen Bravo can be reached at IPNCF@ruii.org
We are setting up a link on the www.visionorlando.org website where you can sign up and get more information.
God bless you. Kindest regards,
