A Call for Fasting and Prayer for 40 Days December 21, 2007 to January 29, 2008
Are we ready for what God is preparing? In the next 40 days, God's plan is to prepare the body of Christ to come together to impact eternity.
Isaiah 42:16 "I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them."
The ION Prayer Task Force would like to issue a united call for fasting and prayer...
Think about this quote from the introduction to Andrew Murray's, "Working for God" (New York: Fred H. Revell Company, 1901) -
"The object of this little book is first of all to remind all Christian workers of the greatness and the glory of the work in which God gives a share. It is nothing less than that work of bringing men back to their God, at which God finds His highest glory and blessedness. As we see that it is God's own work we have to work out, that He works it through us, that in our doing it His glory rests on us, and we glorify Him, we shall count it our joy, to give ourselves to live only and wholly for it.
The aim of the book at the same time is to help those who complain, and perhaps do not even know to complain that they are apparently labouring in vain, to find out what may be the cause of so much failure. And join us as we take to heart the understanding of focusing on God through fasting and prayer. This little book is a power house of scripture directed at drawing us to looking at the work of God. We are asking God for Him to show us how alone, we can draw near to Him and then as we come together --for His direction, His way and His power, as we look anew at His work of missions.
Please go before the LORD and ask Him for the specifics of your individual fast.
For some it may be a meal each day, or it may be a particular thing that has taken away our ability to completely focus on Him. It really does not matter "what" you fast, only that we come together united, asking God to do what only He can do...
Father, Draw us, cleanse us deeply in preparation for Your use in the spiritual harvest around the world.
Each day as our flesh reminds us of the thing that we have left behind for these 40 days, may we turn our affections toward God. He will refresh and renew our focus. Included below are some downloads that may be useful to you.

A Call To Prayer and Fasting December 12, 2007 Dear Brothers and Sisters:
It is with great humility, and sincerity of heart, that I write to ask that you consider the following invitation. I am writing to you in partnership with Andrew T. Wade, Senior Chaplain, Orlando Police Department, and Maureen Bravo, of the Intercessory Prayer Network of Central Florida.
As you know, there was an unprecedented spike in violent crime in our Central Florida in 2007. This has resulted in about 70 churches, and various community leaders coming together in prayer for our community.
During the month of January 2008, we would like to take that one step further. We are asking that you join us in fasting and prayer for peace and safety in our community during the month of January.
Throughout history, our spiritual leaders resorted to prayer and fasting during times of trouble and turmoil. We believe that we face just such a time right now. We believe that the grip of crime on our community can only be broken by prayer and fasting.
What type of fast are we talking about? There are many options.
We are challenging some of you to join us in an absolute fast from all food during the month of January 2008. Some will consider fasting for a day, or maybe a couple of days. Still others may consider fasting from one meal a day, or one meal a week.
Regardless of the nature of the fast, the goal is to humble ourselves before God and seek his intervention throughout the communities of Central Florida.
There will be prayer walks throughout the month of January in order to support each other, and pray for our community. We will be in touch with details concerning the prayer walks.
