Praise Report for National Day of Prayer

The May 1st National Day of Prayer was indeed a blessing for those of us who participated here in Central Florida.

It was kicked off early in the morning by several local prayer breakfasts, including the 7 AM 41st Annual Central Florida Mayors Prayer Breakfast at the Ballroom at Church Street downtown. 350 people gathered with Mayors, Commissioners and other elected officials from 20 cities and 3 Counties. Special guests were the 35 + Law Enforcement Leaders and their Chaplains from the Tri-County area. They were honored and encouraged by the prayers offered for them, asking for protection for them as they serve to preserve the peace in our communities.

“Meet at City Hall” – a local 12 Noon - 1 PM grassroots prayer initiative - brought “on site prayer” to over 27 local City Halls and County Courthouses. Whether in a larger group, or simply 2 or more gathered in His Name, those who participated reported a sweet unity in the Body, cooperative corporate prayer, and a precious Presence of the Lord at each venue! A very special thank you to all those who stepped up and helped make it possible!

Numerous NDP observances took place in the evening at venues across Central Florida. The closing event of the day was a city-wide, bilingual prayer and praise gathering at Centro Cristiano Restauracion / Restoration Christian Church on Chickasaw Trail, bringing together those from different cultures, languages and ethnic groups. Led by Tomas Lares, State of Florida NDP Coordinator, we moved from “the microcosm to the macrocosm”, praying for the transformation …of individual hearts, families, communities, then cities, states, and nations. The evening concluded as we entered corporately into the Ten Days of Constant Prayer (May 1st-10th), leading up to the Global Day of Prayer, which will take place in 212 nations on Pentecost Sunday, May 11th.

From the rising of the sun to the going down, there was a great release of prayer from the “Children of the Light!”

Pray that it be sustained prayer, extending throughout the Body of Christ here in our Central Florida area! AMEN!

Joyfully submitted by Maureen Bravo, “Friend” of the NDP – Central Florida Area

Dr. Ravi Zacharias 2008 Honorary Chairman, National Day of Prayer Task Force

Holy Father, in a world where so many are hungry, You have given us food in abundance;
In a world where so many are hurting, You offer to bind up our wounds;
In a world where so many are lonely, You offer friendship to every heart;
In a world longing for peace, You offer hope.
Yet, we are so stubborn and resistant. Have mercy upon us, Lord.
Our nation is at a crossroads this year; we look to you to be our strength and shield.
Please give us the guidance to elect one who will honor you and to respond to the wisdom from above
so that our hope may be renewed and our blessings be treasured. In God's holy name.

Inmates for Missions

Dear Friends,

We are working to raise funds to carry former inmates, Dennis Reid, Anthony Hodge, and myself on a short-term missions trip to Honduras to minister.

We have targeted May 10-17, 2008.

We will be there for 8 days , it is likely that we will do some construction, evangelism, ministry, preaching and teaching, and some prison ministry, too.

Can you imagine, ex-offenders learning to give back.

Dennis and Anthony will give their testimonies.

If this interests you, make all checks to: Missionary Ventures USA/ Inmates for Missions 2008. P.O.Box 593550, Orlando, Florida 32859.

This is what we need:

1. Bernard Fleeks, Jr.: $700.00

2. Dennis Reid: $1,200.00

3. Anthony Hodge: $1,200.00

Once a year we want to take one or more former inmates that are Christians, on a short term missions trip, somewhere around the world.  We want these guys to give back to society.  Pray for our trip.  Remember to listen to our new radio broadcast, “ Let the Chaplain Speak”, every Tuesday at 11:15 a.m. on Rejoice 1140 AM.
