July is the month we celebrate our nation's independence and salute patriotic and dedicated leaders who have shaped our history. On Thursday, July 8 we are privileged and proud to present Colonel Danny McKnight, US Army (Ret.) as our featured speaker.

Many may remember the October 1993 battle in Mogadishu, Somalia that was chronicled in the best-selling novel and motion picture Black Hawk Down. What was supposed to be a thirty-minute mission to capture twenty-one members of an extremist group became eighteen hours of horror. After successfully capturing their target and exiting the city, the convoy led by Colonel McKnight returned to rescue American soldiers from a downed Black Hawk helicopter. National Day of Prayer

Dear Central Florida Friends,
 
In 1789, only a few days after the passage of the First Amendment Congress asked President Washington to declare a national day of thanksgiving and prayer, and he issued the proclamation shortly after on October 3, 1789. More than 600 public proclamations have been recorded since that time, and 33 of our 44 presidents have made such declarations. In 1952, a bill unanimously passed by Congress was signed into law by President Truman setting aside an annual National Day of Prayer. And, in 1988, legislative steps were taken by Congress and President Reagan to establish the first Thursday of May as the specific day for the observance each year. Rev. David Cramer of His Healing Hand Ministries wants to remind those of you who minister or serve those who live behind bars, those who have returned from a time away, to those who serve the homeless and to those who provide a recovery program for someone with an addiction problem, it has finally happened. "Step Forward" a resource meeting to help us all in our ministries for the Lord is now in place on a monthly basis to provide you resources to other organizations and to learn about what others have to offer. This will take place with the next meeting being held at The Dream Center at 540 Pecan Ave. in Sanford@ 7PM on Thursday, April 15th.

This will allow you the opportunity to share what your programs and helps are with other organizations in a relaxed setting. It will feature several informational programs, a time of sharing, and a time of prayer. The meeting will last about two hours.
